Our Lead Valuer and Managing Director:
Angus Milner-Brown, MRICS

Angus has over 25 years of valuation experience, in a wide variety of Art and Collecting markets. He was a Board Director and Head of Scotland for Sotheby's, where he provided expertise for 16 years.

Angus was instrumental in the management and sale of Scottish Art, culminating in the sale of the unrivalled Colourist paintings of the Harrison Collection at Sotheby's in 2018 for 5 million pounds.

He has also managed the auction of major collections including Stobhall for the Viscount Strathallan; Hensol House, a treasure house of discoveries; Marcus estate, the Scottish country lodge for the Barons of Mowbray and Stourton.

Angus led the valuations teams working at major country estates and collections throughout Scotland, as well as working for institutions and national museums. In the past five years he has valued in excess of £250 million of Art, Antiques and other contents for a wide variety of clients.

He also worked previously at Bonhams auction house for 7 years, valuing the furniture, silver and general monthly auctions. Prior to this Angus worked on the London Stock Exchange, where he helped manage private clients portfolios and qualified as a representative of the exchange.

Angus is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and Registered Valuer for the RICS.

He is a keen supporter of the Arts and is a Patron of the National Museum of Scotland, a member of the Regional Furniture Society, with a particular interest in vernacular furniture.

Angus is managed by a pair of keen Springer Spaniels who demand regular trips to the Isle of Mull for hill walking and fishing. He has spent the last decade restoring a crumbling Scottish manse and loves to plant trees.

Angela Milner-Brown

Angela comes from a Scientific background and is a trained biologist, having completed a degree at York University. She has provided the Royal Society with professional scientific proof reading and copy editing services for 20 years.

Angela is also an effective company administrator and provides us with useful assistance while on client visits. She ensures all items are properly examined and added to our inventory records, also providing useful proofing services prior to output.

Angela is also a Patron of the National Museum of Scotland and loves Scottish botanical art. She is a keen gardener and regularly has opened her garden as part of the National Gardens scheme.
