Angus has recently been involved in the acquisition for the Nation through the Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) scheme of two important works by Sir Henry Raeburn, now given to the National Galleries of Scotland.
This complex estate also saw the sale by auction of the Fettercairn Jewel, an important Elizabethan period piece, probably with Royal connections. This was purchased on behalf of the National Museum of Scotland, where it can be seen in the Scottish galleries.
Angus led the team that valued the extraordinary Galloway Hoard. This unique and Internationally important Viking hoard has now been acquired by the National Museum of Scotland and is currently being prepared for exhibition. The hoard contains magnificent objects from both the Celtic and Saxon world as well and rare pieces from Egypt, China, and of course, Viking treasures.
