COVINGTON will advise you on the best way to make any sales. We can arrange valuations, any transport and make any arrangements with a wide variety of auction houses. We negotiate on your behalf with both large International firms like Sotheby's, Christies and Bonhams and also the regional and local firms that might give you a better return in some circumstances. Best of all, we make NO CHARGE to you for this service. Any funds raised will be settled directly to your account by the auction rooms concerned. We do not handle your money ourselves, giving you peace of mind and better security.
Collections can be divided so selected objects are sent to the most appropriate venue. For example we might send Chinese Art to an auction in Hong Kong and a Scottish Colourist painting to a different venue in Scotland. We firmly believe in providing the best advice and service. Auction houses can seem a little terrifying to some and the charges perhaps unclear and confusing. We will always explain such potential costs in advance and do our utmost to ensure the process is as efficient and enjoyable as possible.
Yes it is true that we make no charge directly for sales we arrange for you. Clearly our services require some renumeration and this is arranged directly with any auction house or dealer we use. They pay us a commission for any sales and this is taken from any charges they make. In the majority of cases this has no impact on the sellers settlement figure. We always seek to achieve the lowest commission available for any sales you make at auction.
We believe a personal, un-pressured and relaxed approach is the best way forward for both our clients and our staff.
